
Val Clark is honored and excited to step into the role of Director for the Rich-Tone Chorus, continuing Dale Syverson’s legacy while guiding the chorus into the future. With over 50 years of performance experience and a passion for barbershop, Val brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the role.
A lifelong musician, Val holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Business and is an audio engineer. She has experience in community theater as a performer and musical director. She also has spent time as a professional stage manager for other Barbershop choruses. In addition to the Rich-Tones, she currently performs with The Living Christmas Card, a professional caroling group and also serves as the music director for The MadriGals – an entertainment ensemble performing in the Renaissance style. Her educational foundation and extensive experience in the music industry positions her uniquely to steer the chorus toward continued excellence and expanding opportunities.
She has been an active member of Sweet Adelines International since 1988, singing and performing with three choruses in three regions across the United States. Since joining the Rich-Tones in 2003, she has served in various roles, including Front Row, Tenor Section Leader, Director's Resource Team and Visual Team. She has been the Associate Director since 2009. An award-winning quartet singer, Val holds many regional titles with multiple quartets throughout the years. As a dedicated educator and coach, she has served Region 25 as a faculty member since 2005 and as the Competition Coordinator since 2010.
Outside of Sweet Adelines, Val is a military veteran having served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. Her military experience instilled in her a deep understanding of leadership, communication, and teamwork.
Val is dedicated to leading the Rich-Tones into the future, honoring the chorus’s roots and unique barbershop “sound” while fostering innovation and artistic growth. She looks forward to the challenges ahead and is excited to guide the chorus toward continued success and inspiring audiences for years to come.
